What to Expect


Dance Ascension Dance Company



Dance Ascension Dance Company (DADC) is a competitive dance team/company. DADC members participate in solos, duos/trios, and/or group routines at required competitions and conventions. Membership on the team is by invitation from the Owner/Director, Ashley O’Quinn, following completion of the Company Intensive and Audition.


Placement on DADC
Placement on DADC is based on the following criteria: technique, potential, commitment level, enthusiasm, attitude and behavior in class, attendance, movement quality and stage presence.

Team members are placed in groups with other dancers upon the decision of the Owner/Director, Ms. Ashley O’Quinn. Dancers are placed in groups based on ability and mastery of technique, not primarily on age or class level. DADC candidates participate in a formal audition process in front of a panel of judges of qualified dance professionals.

Requirements
Full requirements for participation as a DADC member are reviewed during a parent meeting following the invitation to the student to join. General requirements are listed below.
  • All DADC members are required to take a minimum of 8 hours of dance each week. 
  • Attendance and punctuality are expected for classes, rehearsals, and competitive events.
  • Participation in required 6 competitions and 4 conventions plus three required Master Classes.
DADC members are required to compete in a minimum of 4 group routines.

Dance Ascension Performance Team



Dance Ascension Performance Team (DAPT) is a recreational competitive dance team. DAPT members participate in group routines and selected conventions. Membership on the team is by invitation from the Owner/Director, Ashley O’Quinn, following completion of the Company Intensive and Audition.


Placement on DAPT
Placement on DAPT is based on the following criteria: technique, potential, commitment level, enthusiasm, attitude and behavior in class, attendance, movement quality and stage presence.

Team members are placed in groups with other dancers upon the decision of the Owner/Director, Ms. Ashley O’Quinn. She utilizes the evaluations and observations during the Intensives as well as input from faculty regarding class performance to determine groups of students that will work best together in practice, rehearsals, and competitive events.
